Age 74, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents and older brother Dave, and is survived by her sons, Scott and his wife Cathy, and Jerry and her grandchildren Kathy and her husband Felix, Alicia, and Charlie, and her brothers Tom, Bob, Jon, Don, Steve, and sister-in-law Marilyn, and their families. Gwen was a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a PhD in Education Administration and had a long career as a Special Education Administrator and was a tremendous advocate for people with disabilities throughout her life. Gwen’s life was rich with a close circle of best friends, devoted brothers, loving family, and committed professional colleagues. A visitation will be held at Word of Grace Church from 5:00 PM to 7:30 on Wednesday, Jan. 5th, and a funeral service at 12:00 Thurs. Jan. 6th, with a luncheon to follow. Word of Grace Church is located at 2120 E. 38th St., Minneapolis, and is the church of her childhood. Memorials are preferred to, Harry Meyering Center, 109 Homestead Rd. Mankato, MN 56001, provider of Jerry Martinson’s residential support for 32 years.
Sor sorry to hear of your loss. She was a tireless advocate for those who could not advocate for themselves.
